An electrical wholesale business that raised an incredible £12,500 for LMRUK on a golf day has been named our Corporate Fundraiser of the Year!
Moss Electrical Co Ltd welcomed more than 100 golfers, including staff members, customers and friends, to the annual event in July.
They chose our charity to benefit after a close friend of Managing Director Lindsay Goubel was diagnosed with advanced Multiple Myeloma in 2024.
The Dartford, Kent, based business, with branches in Manchester and Bridgend, South Wales, held the golf day at the London Golf Club in Sevenoaks, offering lots of opportunities during the day for those taking part to give generously.
Lindsay said learning of her friend’s blood cancer diagnosis had been terrifying, and led to extended hospital stays, radio and chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant.
“We thought she had just hurt her back whilst snowboarding and were not even close to being ready to receive the news that it was cancer,” Lindsay explained.
Her friend has responded well to the treatment and is now on maintenance therapy and is very much enjoying life as a new grandmother.
Lindsay said it was an honour for the business to be named Corporate Fundraiser of the Year. “I am proud to be associated with such a giving and caring business, so you can imagine how I felt when the whole team got behind this very personal request to support LMRUK.”
Moss Electrical Co Ltd has received a certificate to mark the award.
Dr Joanna Tilley, LMRUK Operations Director, said: “This was a magnificent effort by Moss Electrical which made them the obvious and fitting choice for this award.
“We know that learning of a close friend or family member’s diagnosis of a blood cancer can be devastating – but it is also often the trigger for fundraising efforts which always make a big difference to the work we can do in seeking new treatments and, ultimately, cures for these diseases.”
