On 1st August Chelsea Moore hosted a Powerlifting Competition at Fervid Fitness in Flint, raising vital funds for our Charity. The event was a huge success. It introduced the sport of powerlifting to newcomers and offered past competitors a chance to test their strength, benchmark their progress, and prepare for returning to training. The event exceeded the fundraising expectations, and many attendees shared personal stories of loved ones affected by cancer — a reminder of the powerful community spirit behind the day.

Chelsea said her standout moment was selling her baked goods. After spending weeks making brownies, cookies and more, she worried she had made far too much — but every cake sold!

She was also struck by the young athletes competing. Watching how confidently they handled the pressure at such a young age was, in her words, “truly surprising”.

The turnout far exceeded expectations. Around 50 spectators and family members came to support the athletes at the event’s peak, creating an energetic and encouraging atmosphere throughout the day.

Chelsea recruited friends who have volunteered at the event for the past four years. Their knowledge of powerlifting and competition logistics ensured everything ran smoothly — a real credit to the team.

Chelsea received many lovely comments, including one from the female competition winner, who said the day was “amazing” and shared that she had travelled nearly 40 miles to take part.

Chelsea’s Mum Tracy was diagnosed in 2024 with plasma cell leukaemia and multiple myeloma — an extremely rare and aggressive combination affecting roughly 1 in a million people. Through the experience of her Mum’s journey from diagnosis to treatment, Chelsea is determined to keep raising awareness and campaigning for more research in this area.

A huge ‘Thank you ‘ to Chelsea and her team of volunteers, for raising such an incredible amount that will help with the fight against blood cancer.
