Football shirts signed by two Premier League teams, a boot signed by footballing legend Lionel Messi and a jacket worn by Team GB’s Olympic snowboarder Zoë Gillings-Brier are among a range of auction prizes on offer to raise vital funds for blood cancer research.

We’re thrilled to be staging a silent auction to mark our charity’s tenth birthday, beginning on May 12th and running for two weeks.

All money raised will go towards our work funding vital blood cancer and stem cell research, increasing awareness of the signs and symptoms of blood cancer, and supporting our fully-funded cord blood banking service, the Model Cell Biobank.

Snowboarder Zoë Gillings-Brier, a four times Olympian, has donated a jacket with the competition tags still attached as an auction prize.  She has been an ambassador for LMRUK since 2020, and is a passionate supporter of our charity.

She said: “As someone who banked both of my children’s umbilical cord blood stem cells, I’m proud to help LMRUK raise funds to support stem cell research and progress treatments for blood cancer.

“The auction is a wonderful event and a great way for people to support an important cause, whilst also getting the chance to win some fab prizes!”

Those prizes include short breaks in Portugal, Venice and Morocco, a Top Gun style air combat experience for two, £100-worth of top-quality chocolate, a case of South African Wine and a Dyson multi-styler and dryer.

Dog and cat owners can commission a portrait of their pet while art lovers can bid on spectacular images of David Bowie by globally acclaimed artist Daniel Mernagh, or a limited edition “diamond dust” screen print of Andy Warhol’s famous picture of Marilyn Monroe.

One of the most valuable prizes is a five-star experience for two at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix, including four nights’ accommodation with breakfast, grandstand seats for the race action and a range of other benefits.  All the successful bidder needs to do is pay for flights.

The Everton and Chelsea football teams have signed and gifted shirts in their club colours, while Rugby League’s Wigan Warriors star winger, Liam Marshall, has signed and donated a pair of his shorts.

Lunch in chef Anton Mossimann’s Private Dining Club in London’s Belgravia, a Champagne afternoon tea at the five-star Mandarin Oriental hotel in Knightsbridge and a three-night break at an idyllic Lake District cottage complete the line-up of auction prizes.

Our Operations Director, Dr Joanna Tilley said: “We are so grateful to the generous prize-givers who have donated such a fabulous range of items and experiences to our tenth anniversary silent auction.

“There are some truly unmissable things on offer and we really hope supporters will dig deep and bid for the prizes.  The winners are guaranteed a wonderful prize – and the knowledge that they are helping to fund vital research work that will ultimately help blood cancer patients and their families.”
